Change Over Time Essay

North America and the countries around us has had a great amount of growth, change and continuities in manufacturing, transportation and communication in the 1750 through the 2000s.
Manufacturing in the pre-civil war time  was all about how do you manufacture items for cheap and for cheap labor. In the 1750s most of the manufacturing was done by Great Britain . By 1790 America opened it first Cotton mill in Rhode Island. America burrowed most of their innovations in manufacturing for example the cotton gin made famous by Eli Whitney. He made part interchangeable which made manufacturing labor cost low. In this time period the Europeans brought slave over which made the labor cost free. More and more people (immigration) began to come over because of the new machinery and a better living due to the manufacturing in North America. With the steam engine it was now easly to make cotton and textile. In the 1800s you start to see factories with people making textiles and more and more jobs were created. Now in the 2000s due to the continuity in North America we began to see machinery take over the factories now a robot can make the cotton and package it.
The fact that North America had more people in the population ,they need a way to be transportated. The horse carriage was the first form of transportation used in North America it was brought by the Europeans , The southern plant farmers were the first to use the horse carriage. In the 1850 the first railroad began to pop up this made travel faster and easy . This also allowed for the expansion west which meant the population grew. In 1896 Henry Ford made his first car.  Ford created the assembly line because people wanted cars and this helped him produced them faster. The demand for car rose and people began to move to the city where jobs were because they could travel more effiecently. Today cars are still in demand and they have become more advanced. North America has battery powered car, gas effiecent cars and very high tech cars.
But where would we be without communication. The first telegraph created was created in France and could be sent from France to Great Britain to the United States .  We needed a way to communicate better and farther. The first phone was developed in the mid-1870s by Alexander Graham Bell this made communication faster and connected the world. From that time on North America has has many communication improvement for example the beeper, pager and now more recently the cell phone. Many americans can't live without it. You can now send text , talk, email,  send pictures and even see the person your talking too.
There is no telling where the manufaccturing , transportation, and communication will be in ten year because with the change and continuties , we will continue to advance.
